The first book written by Jane Austen, published posthumously. Catherine Morland is a young and naive woman vacationing at Bath. Here she meets all kinds of interesting characters, among which those of the Tilney family. It's during her stay at Bath that she develops a love for Gothic literature and becomes well acquainted with it. The sophisticated Henry Tilney invites Catherine to his estate, Northanger Abbey, but Catherine is plagued by fears of crimes that could have been commited in the mansion. Having to learn to seperate fiction from reality, Jane Austen tells a story on the difference of false friends and real ones, about fears and truths.
