Nithin Kalorth is a UGC NET qualified educator, filmmaker, and researcher at the forefront of media studies and digital storytelling. With over 12 years of experience in academia and a passion for exploring the intersections of media, culture, and technology, he is currently working as an Associate Professor at the School of Media, Mahindra University in Hyderabad. Dr. Kalorth holds a PhD in Film Studies and Mass Communication from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, which was pursued with a Junior Research Scholarship from the UGC. His commitment to academic excellence was further acknowledged when he completed his Masters in Electronic Media with a Gold Medal from the University of Madras. His foundational education includes a Bachelor's degree in Visual Communication from the University of Madras. He holds two additional postgraduate degrees – one in Mass Communication and Journalism from Madurai Kamraj University, and another in Sociology from Indira Gandhi Open University. His academic prowess is not only confined to formal education; he has also obtained numerous certifications from prestigious universities around the globe through MOOC platforms. Dr. Kalorth is an accomplished photographer and documentary filmmaker, currently embarking on his latest film “Bottleneck.” His research prowess lies in the domain of Film Studies, Visual Culture, and Digital Media, and his intellectual curiosity has yielded numerous research papers, articles, and conference presentations. An ardent advocate for innovative learning, Dr. Kalorth has conducted transformative mobile and digital storytelling workshops for diverse audiences, including WHO, the Foreign Correspondence Club in New Delhi, and esteemed universities like IIT Goa and BITS Pilani Goa. He is the visionary behind “Stories - The Mobile Way,” a platform that empowers storytelling through technology, and the co-founder of “Cinema Peedia,” a hub fostering growth among filmmakers and educators. His dedication to media education is further evidenced by his co-founding of “In-Depth Communication,” a groundbreaking initiative that promotes media research and education. He also serves as the editor of the esteemed journal “Photosensor: A Journal of Visual Communication”.
